Four gouache paintings created early on in the design process, these would later be manipulated, layered and collaged in the following iterations seen in this slideshow. The bottom right painting would become the background for the record stamp in the final stages.

Digital collaging and manipulation inspired by minimalist art of the 60s and 70s.

I was looking at contemporary painter Mary Weatherford, imagining what may arise as elements of neons and minimalism converge in a digital space, a nod to the soft / harsh electronic sound of Shouldies.

More blending of the fluid and electric feelings found in their music.

Getting closer.

While the abstracted elements were nice in the previous iterations, there was a need for something closer to the realm of the tangible. bathed in electric light, a power cord emerges from behind the veil, powering an unknown device.

Around this point I received an early iteration of the track list, with excitement to start thinking about typography, I created a quick mock-up for a potential design direction.

Before coming to a close, I worked with the clients exploring print and layout, preparing files for CMYK printing. These visual elements helped us consider the totality of the artistic direction, including record stamp, sleeve and vinyl color.

Final design and layout for print and digital release, done in Photoshop and Illustrator
